COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE MEETING BETWEEN THE MANAGEMENT OF THE FEDERAL MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND OFFICIALS OF THE ASSOCIATION OF SENIOR CIVIL SERVANTS OF NIGERIA, HELD IN ABUJA ON THURSDAY, 22ND JANUARY, 2009 - [ 22/01/2009 ]

COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE MEETING BETWEEN THE MANAGEMENT OF THE FEDERAL MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND OFFICIALS OF THE ASSOCIATION OF SENIOR CIVIL SERVANTS OF NIGERIA, HELD IN ABUJA ON THURSDAY, 22ND JANUARY, 2009

 

In furtherance of the meeting of Tuesday, 13th January, 2009, the management of the Federal Ministry of Education and leadership of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria met in Abuja on Thursday, 22nd January, 2009 with the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Hajiya Aishatu Jibril Dukku as Chairman.

 

2.       The meeting discussed all the issue that led to the industrial action by the Association and resolved as follows:

 

·        The Federal Ministry of Education has no record of any decision by the current Administration of the Federal Government to cede or sell the Federal Unity Colleges (FUCs)

·        The Federal Ministry of Education  Management shall have till the end of February, 2009 to conclude all consultations on the issue of returning the JS Classes in the FUCs, since it is a policy matter.

·        On-going payment of allowances to all officers posted in September, 2008, should be completed on or before 31st March, 2009.

·        All officers that were posted and rejected by some Principals will have their transportation allowance settled on or before 31st March, 2009.

·        The 15% salary arrears of staff in the Unity Colleges will be credited online to the accounts of all the Colleges within the next 2 weeks.

·        On-going disbursement of arrears of promotion for the past three (3) years should be completed not later than 31st March, 2009.

·        In the light of emerging facts, the Federal Ministry of Education will revisit the case of suspension of Mr.Izah, K. C of Federal Government College Ijanikin, Lagos.

·        Posting of Union Officials will be reconsidered after the submission of the list of all those involved in line with the agreement of 2006.

·        Federal Ministry of Education shall create an Industrial Relations Desk, to be headed by an Assitant Director; and

·        There will be quarterly meeting between the Management of Federal Ministry of Education and officials of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria.
