WHAT IS THE GEOGRAPHICAL SPREAD OF THE ASSOCIATION?


The Association is fully represented in all the 36 states of the Federation and Abuja i.e. all the Federal and State Civil Services including Federal Establishments throughout the country.


HOW DOES THE ASSOCIATION FINANCE ITS OPERATIONS?


The Association finances its operations through check-off dues which it collects from its members on a monthly basis.


WHAT IS COLLECTIVE BARGAINING?


Collective Bargaining is a term used to describe negotiations about working conditions and terms of employment between an employer, a group of employers or one or more employers’ organisation on the one hand, and one or more Workers’ organisation on the other.

It also covers all arrangements in which employees do not negotiate individually but do so collectively through representatives.


HOW DOES THE ASSOCIATION NEGOTIATE FOR ITS MEMBERS?


The Association engages in Collective Bargaining with the Government on behalf of its members as contained in the Collective Agreement that established the National Public Service Negotiating Council.


WHICH LABOUR CENTRE DOES THE ASSOCIATION AFFILIATE WITH?


The Association is an affiliate of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC).


WHAT IS THE STRUCTURAL SET UP OF THE ASSOCIATION?


The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria has an organisational structure through which the union is administered. The structural set up is as follows: a. National Delegates Conference b. National Executive Council (NEC) c. Central Working Committee (CWC) d. Branch Delegates Conference e. Branch Executive Committee f. Chapter Delegates Conference g. Chapter Executive Committee h. Unit Delegates Conference i. Unit Delegate Committee j. The National Secretariat.


WHICH SECTOR OF THE ECONOMY DOES THE ASSOCIATION OPERATE?


The Association operates in the Public Sector of the Nigeria economy.


WHAT ARE THE OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION?


The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria was established to pursue the following objectives: (i) To secure the complete organisation of all senior civil servants employed in the civil services of the Federal and State Governments of Nigeria. (ii) To uphold the tradition of efficiency of the civil service and to foster understanding between civil servants and their respective governments. (iii) To represent wherever and whenever necessary the opinions of members of the Association on matters of employment in the Civil Services of the Federal and State Governments and also any other matter which is of common interest and benefit to the generality of members. (iv) To safeguard and protect the rights and privileges of members of the Association and to promote and secure their interests. (v) To fully cooperate and associate with any other organisation having similar objects. (vi) To discharge any financial obligations required to promote the objectives of the Association. (vii) To Publish and distribute the journal of the Association. (viii) To promote such other objects as are lawful and not inconsistent with the spirit and practice of Trade Unionism in Nigeria.


WHAT IS THE MEMBERSHIP SCOPE OF THE ASSOCIATION?


The membership of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria include all officers in the civil services of the respective Federal and State Governments holding appointments from grade levels 07 and above, including those of them in the Executive Officer Cadre but excluding all categories of Typists, Stenographers, Nurses/midwives and Pharmacists/Medical Technologists.
